Silver Bella 2009

It’s now mid-September and bellas across the country are preparing for Silver Bella 2009. For those of you who’ve not had the pleasure of attending, the best way to describe the weekend of Silver Bella is “it’s like spending 3 days inside the beautiful pages of a Somerset publication”. Pick one – Somerset Life, Somerset Studio, Somerset Home and you’re magically meeting, taking lessons from, or buying from, the elite group of craftswomen that are regular contributors to those publications.

That first magical evening includes the “Bella Swaps”. We spent weeks hovered over our computers on Sunday evenings last spring awaiting the announcements of SWAPS!! I signed up to participate in 3 this year. My first one is the Apron Swap and our inspiration - “Pretty & Utilitarian” by Rebecca Sower, published in the Summer 2009 edition of Art Quilting Studio from Somerset.

Make 14 patches, send to the swap hostess who will return a finished apron to us on that first magical evening.

My 14 pieces included…velvet ribbon, flowered lace, vintage button…

  3. Hi Sandra,
I am loving that heart with the beads - yum! I am still working on my 14 pieces. I joined 5 swaps and still have 2 to go after this. The pressure is on!

  4. Hi Sandy!
Ooohh, I wish I could go to Silver Bella - one of these years...I am off to Art and Soul Portland next week with a girl I met in Italy last summer. We are going to have loads of fun visiting all of my Oregon haunts - and then it is my sister's wedding the following week to which my mom and I are the decorator's! I will be busy, busy, busy! Be sure to post the finished apron when you receive it!
    xoxo

  5. Oh man! Now I wish I had signed up for that apron swap too. I can't wait to see what the aprons look like. I guess I'll take some pictures and then perhaps make one after Silver Bella :)
