Tissue paper flowers

I wanted to share some blossoms with you that I made in January…

paper flowers (2)

Believe it or not, we all learned to make these flowers in grade school from Kleenex!! You remember – stack some Kleenex together then along the short side, make accordion pleats about 1/2 inch wide, folding the Kleenex from the bottom to the top, put a twist tie in the center and then gently undo all the layers. I believe we called them carnations and they adorned everything from wedding party cars and bridal shower wishing wells to Valentine boxes you made in school.

Keep in mind the picture frame on the wall is an 8 x 10 photo in an 11 x 14 frame. So these are large scale blossoms made from sewing pattern tissue.

Whether you make them on this larger scale or just grab a few Kleenex from the nearest box, I promise you a genuine blast from the past! Fun, easy and anyone can make them! Enjoy!
